Henshaws College and People First Keighley and Craven have held a joint conference in Harrogate to promote healthy living. Over 45 people with a wide range of disabilities attended the recent ‘Healthy Me’ event, which was opened by Mayor Andrew Willoughby and his wife Christine, alongside local councillor Anne Jones.

The conference celebrated the learning, skills and experiences gained from People First Keighley and Craven’s residential learning holidays, which were funded by the Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven Clinical Commissioning Group. ‘Healthy Me’ built on the themes of these holidays, including healthy eating, healthy lifestyles, exercise and relaxation, positive food shopping, safety and good hygiene in the kitchen.

Jean Carter, Business Development Manager at Henshaws said:

“We want participants to place the idea of ‘Healthy Me’ at the heart of their daily health and wellbeing choices. Our practical, fun workshops enabled all participants to enjoy working together and demonstrate understanding around new skills, ideas and experiences.”

Local community groups, support workers and families interested in hiring facilities and resources at the College can contact Henshaws on 01423 886451.
