Stairlift Measuring Guide for Straight Staircases
Measuring your staircase can be an essential easy step process to determine which type of stairlift and track you require. Please follow our 4 simple steps below:
Step 1: Which Side of Stairs?
Which side of the stairs? Stand at the bottom of the stairs and look up the stairs. What side will the stairlift go on, Left or Right?
Step 2: Measure From Top Step To Floor Landing
Stand at the top of your stairs (A) and extend your tape measure down the staircase. The tape measure should lightly touch each stair tread and the tip should touch the landing at the bottom of the steps (B).
Step 3: Measure Width Of Staircase
Measure the width of the staircase from (C) to (D) making sure you measure from the skirting board and not the wall.
Step 4: Measure Bottom Clearing Distance
Please measure from the end of the bottom step (E) to the nearest wall or door or any other obstacle (F). This tells us how much available space you have for the stairlift to be parked. If however the space is limited you may require a hinge track system, Please click here to see how this works.
